Zoo

"Lions and tigers and bears,OH MY!"

All through the month of April, Minnie will help me explore the people, places and things that WE call creepy, strange and downright weird. To be honest, Minnie finds almost everything creepy and strange so having the entire alphabet at our disposal is going to be a challenge. You might find what we discover delightful, or you may agree with us. Please share your opinions either way. Have fun road-tripping the Alphabet by visiting others doing the challenge as well. To find out more on the A-Z blogging challenge follow the link.

You can find all sorts of creepy things at the zoo but most of them are not in cages. I feel sorry for the animals that are caged up for human entertainment. The term "zoo" was first used by the London Zoological Gardens, which opened for scientific study in 1828 and to the public in 1847. The number of major animal collections open to the public around the world now exceeds 1,000,000 and around 80 percent of them are in cities. How would you feel if you were put on display in a cage or denied your freedom? I loved the scene in the movie "Five Monkeys" where Brad Pit set all the animals from the zoo free. I admit that as a child I loved going to the zoo and for a brief time I considered a career as a zoologist. Why? Because I love creepy crawlers and things that go bump in the night. Have you been to a zoo? What animal did you love to see? My favorites were the monkeys and the bears.

Last letter of the alphabet and it has been a challenging month for me but I managed to blog every day. I wish that I could have had more time to visit my friends and make some more new ones but my mothers accident and other obligations has consumed my time. I hope to visit you all soon. So did you enjoy the A-Z challenge? Glad it is over or are you a bit sad like me?

Tomorrow is a holiday and hopefully there will be some sunshine, gardening and Barbecue. Hope you all enjoy the first day of May!

I am so glad that the A to Z is over. I am exhausted.

I have mixed feelings about zoos. I think if they used their powers to exclusively rescue animals that wouldn't survive in the wild I would feel better about them. Then it would feel less like animals trapped and denied their natural habitat. It would literally be a life that they wouldn't have otherwise.

The San Francisco Zoo is lovely and gives the animals the illusion of freedom, much like civilization does for us!

I always want to free the live lobsters at restaurants.
Tomorrow with no post will be weird. But I think I am ready for a break.
Congratulations on completing the Challenge.

I Love the Zoo. All the animals are my favorites it's hard to pick just one, but maybe the lions, tigers, polar bears if I had to pick a few. Congrats on completing the challenge.
