Harry Potter Virgin

Everyone is talking about Harry Potter. I must confess I am a Potter virgin; my Harry Potter “cherry” is still in place. This confuses me greatly and I am starting to wonder what is wrong with me. I love to read, I love children’s books, I am fascinated by anything magical and I am a big movie fan. It was Harry Potter who pulled my young children out of comic books and actually got them to read. Everything about him and the world that J.K. Rowling has created appeal to me. To be totally honest, I have indulged in a little foreplay. A couple chapters have been read aloud to my children at bedside, and part of a re-run from one of his first movies has been lightly viewed and skipped over. I even helped my daughter hang an autographed copy of his picture on her wall next to his movie poster. My family sent Harry Potter collectibles as birthday and Christmas gifts to my eager children, and I have even stood in line to get them the newest book. So why have I not been left panting for more?

“What’s that you say?”-----No, I am not a virgin, Tolkien was my first and I enjoyed every minute!

“Afraid, who me?”----- Absolutely not! I love adventure and the thrill of something new.

“Why wouldn’t I?”-----I adore heroes and age has nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact, I happen to like younger men.

“Do you think so?”----Well yes, I am afraid of getting in bed and starting a long term relationship that I know is not going to end well. However, this has never stopped me before.

Am I alone? Am I just crazy? Whatever is the matter with me, there must be a cure. What if I am the only sane one left and the rest of the world has been infected with Harry Potter bliss? Oh My GOD! What if I have the only vaccine to a zombie world infected by the hypnotic words of J.K. Rowling?

So what do you say people? I don’t want to be alone. Should I just I hold back my head, expose my jugular and let myself be ravaged? Will it hurt, will I die? What made you do it? No one wants to stay a virgin forever, or do they?

LMAO! I love that poster. You haven't succumbed to the magic of Potter? Come one, it's easy. I love these movies. I admit I have not read the books. The films hit my radar before the books and well...*hangs head* I just picked up Sorcerer's Stone to remedy that. Take the plunge with me. :)

You are not alone. I read the first Harry Potter book but not the others that followed. I have yet to see a single movie. I know, I have a lot of catching up to do. :-)

Nice to meet you today, Siv

Hey, Sis,

Well that was quite the post. You actually had read parts of the book and seen a movie and you are still not the least bit interested? Well this where our family ties end... LOL.

I am SO into these books. The first movie came to me at a very sad time in my life. My dad had just died and I was in NY at his funeral. Later that evening the neighborhood marquis featured Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I was hooked from the first scene.

It took me a few years to realize this movie was based on a series of children's books. That's when my obsession began. I know own first editions and tons of collectables.

Yes, I am an HP freak. BUT don;t despair I do know SEVERAL people who haven't read these books. As a matter of fact I'll be visiting one of them on Sunday,

SO don't worry, I'll still love you even if you remain a virgin.

Ha ha ha, I said my dear brother Michael that I had indulged in a LITTLE FOREPLAY---A few chapters and PART of a rerun of ONE of the movies (was the middle of the movie)---So tell me, why has he not turned me on???? I am glad to see that I am not the only one!

This was great fun. I'll have you know I have not read a single one of the HP books, not even glanced at them, but I have seen almost all the movies. I say jump in feet first and get your hair wet, a little cold water will do some good. :)

I have an appreciation for the stories. My son loved them when he was little. Read the first 4 in 2 months when he was 7. For his benefit, I've seen a couple of the films and thought they were okay.

But HP is just not my cup of tea. It doesn't matter how great of a writer JKR is or how fantastic the stories are. If you are just not drawn into that sort of thing, what's the point?

As a teacher, I saw students learn to love reading because the Harry Potter books were so readable, and fun. I don't know...not everyone enjoys a fantasy world, but JKR sure inspired many YA books.

ROFL, I'm a Potter virgin as well. Tried to watch one of the movies but fell asleep. So fear not, you are not alone. :)

Haven't read any of the books. Watched "The Philosopher's Stone" and realized he was being portrayed as Jesus. Right from the beginning.
Sometimes it is better not to open that box of cookies, it's much easier to put it down before you try one than to try to stop after you have already tasted one.
