Scared out of my pants!

Walking alone in the dark and sure that someone is following you, in the middle of the night you hear someone in your house. You open a door and see someone standing there with a hidden gun, trying to “sell magazines”.
You are alone in a public toilet and a bloody stranger runs in and while shaking a knife at you he says in a wild voice, “Be quiet, the police can’t find me!” You come home and find all your things scattered about, someone was in your home and you have been robbed. Your child is in surgery way to long. Your child has disappeared; you sit in an emergency room in the middle of the night. Police show up on your doorstep, your dog goes crazy and bites a family member in the face. You find out you are a pregnant teen-ager, you get so sick you almost die. You find out your best friend was killed in a car crash, someone close in your family is seriously ill, and someone close in your family has died. These are some of the things that I can think of that has happened to me and made me scared out of my pants.

Do you know the feeling like there is a black hole in your stomach, hot and cold chills running through your body at the same time, numbness caught up in slow motion? Fear is an adrenalin based emotion that sometimes baffles me. I wonder why we choose to be afraid, why sometimes fear alone gives us pleasure. We dive off of high places, drive too fast, compete in dangerous sports, and the most common of all fears we indulge in is the scary movie. I was watching Jaws the other night for what must have been the 10th time and was still just as scared as when I watched it the first time. So why do I keep watching it, and why do I love scary movies? Why is it that we just love to be scared out of our pants? Tell me, what is the scariest movie you have ever seen? Mine I think is “The Omen” Anything that makes the devil seem so real always leaves me absolutely scared out of my pants!

Oh my gosh how can you watch Jaws? I can't even think about it without feeling like I'll throw up. My fear of sharks is totally ridiculous as I live nowhere near any oceans...thank God!

It's called adrenalin...an extremely addictive drug produced 100% by your body to conquer fear. Talk to anyone who races a car or ski jumps or takes a leap off a tall mountain...they will all tell you that it is the rush of adrenalin that allows them to do it :-)

The love of scary movies.... I believe is for the adrenaline. The fear that pumps into you can be addictive.

My mother yelps at the same section of some movies. even though she KNOWS what is coming, she can't stop the knee jerk reaction to it. It makes me giggle. A lot.
