Rest in Peace

Panasonic
1994-2011
Yesterday we put to rest my mothers best friend and our long time companion. We first met Panasonic when it was brand new and shiny. We took it into our home just in time for the Winter Olympics in Norway. Panasonic was a big sports fan so it came as no surprise that it used up its last spark during the World Championship in Skiing being held right here in Oslo Norway.
Panasonic has travelled all over Norway with us, hooking up from one place to another and never complaining. Its final years were spent in my mothers room where the two of them spent hours enjoying each others company. Panasonic was never really the same after it lost its good friend VCR and we could see that it was growing weaker and weaker until finally yesterday morning at 11:30 am it chocked on some potato chips and blew its last fuse.

The other day I had written about TV addiction and withdrawal. Today I saw its effect on my mother. Lucky thing we had another TV available, and even though she had to sit in another room for a few hours until my husband came home she did not complain. He gently removed Panasonic and replaced it with Philips just in time for dinner. There is one less TV in our house, but I have a feeling it won't be for long. Tomorrow Panasonic will be taking its last trip to its final resting place among all the other electrical carnage at the city dump. May it rest in peace.
