Adventure Friday Continued

Our adventure started with a long train ride into Oslo at 6:30 in the morning which is a bit early for this night owl. After a little over two hours we were in Oslo half asleep and with no idea of where the American Embassy was. After all, it had been years since we were there last. Let’s just say that I was born without a sense of direction and my daughter inherited that from me.
The train station is under ground and very confusing for two native tourists like us. We decided on a exit that neither one of has had tried before and gradually made our way out from under the ground and on to the streets of Oslo. We were looking to find a taxi and then my daughter yelled out, “Found it!” Ha ha, there it was right in front of us, just across the street. We were greeted by gun carrying, uniformed cuties that wouldn’t let us take any pictures, so we just handed over our passports and walked onto American soil. Even after several security checks it was good to feel American again. So mission accomplished, passport renewed and within 2-3 weeks it will be in my daughter’s hands.

We spent a few hours in Oslo and remained true to our American heritage. We spoke only English and as tourists we took pictures of interesting things like trolls and the palace gates. We checked out the fancy hotel where all the famous people stay when they come to Oslo and we had lunch at T.G.I Fridays. Lucky thing we ate so early because not long after we left the whole place was evacuated due to a propane leak. After checking out the best and biggest book store in Norway, where there is actually a selection of English books, we found the train station.  After a long train ride (which was made a little less longer by the company of Mr. Dan Brown’s latest novel) we were home at last. We avoided a disaster, we didn’t get lost and even though my feet are sore I would say it was a good day.

Kind of reminds me when I was in Japan and had to get my alien registration card and I had no idea where to go, much less how the trains worked.

Thanks for stopping by and I'm following you back! Have a great weekend!

That would be amazing! Living overseas...I can't even imagine it. Although sometimes, in Texas....you feel detached from everyone else anyway. :)
By the way....I love those trolls!
Thank you so much for stopping by Staying Home and Staying Sane. :)

What a fun day! I wish we had cuties guarding our embassy, but since they don't converse anyway, I guess it would be wasted. Huh.
