HEX

A hex is a magical spell, usually with malevolent purposes such as a curse. The term is derived from the German word Hexe for a witch. In Norwegian heks is also the word for witch. The past few years have been loaded with books, TV series, and movies all about witches and witchcraft. We all know that there are good witches and bad witches. Only bad ones or very stupid ones would ever hex someone. (please be advised, the rest of this article may be offensive to some, if you are easily offended for religious reasons, please do not continue reading.)

Minnie is sure that she has been Hexed. Just look what happened to her!

HEX

Minnie-ism for today:

"You wanna hex me go ahead, you wouldn't be the firstone to try. How do you think I got into this space in the first place?"

A "hex" is a spell that is cast either on another person who has harmed someone, or on a situation that has harmed someone. Sometimes hexing the situation is preferable to naming names if you aren't positive you know the correct persons' identity. A hex is done on a person  without their permission, obviously, and so is considered imposing your will on another person, and therefore is unethical magick.

Are things happening to you that you can't explain?
Well maybe someone's put a hex on you. Here's a spell to undo what's been done! Please keep in mind that I do not deem this to be true and have personally never tried it. I am just passing out some interesting ideas.

YOU NEED:black candle, water and a black bowl

PLACE THE CANDLE INTO THE BLACK BOWL, FIX THE CANDLE TO THE BOWL USING THE WAX DRIPPINGS FROM THE CANDLE SO THAT IT STANDS ALONE. FILL THE BOWL TO THE RIM WITH FRESH WATER, WITHOUT WETTING THE WICK. BREATHE DEEPLY AND MEDITATE FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES. WHEN YOUR MIND IS CLEAR, LIGHT THE CANDLE. VISUALIZE THE POWER OF THE SPELL CAST AGAINST YOU AS LIVING WITHIN THE CANDLES FLAME. AS THE CANDLE BURNS DOWN, IT WILL SPLUTTER AND GO OUT AS IT TOUCHES THE WATER. AS IT IS EXTINGUISHED BY THE WATER, THE SPELL IS BROKEN .FINALLY, DIG A HOLE IN TO THE GROUND, POUR THE WATER INTO IT, THEN BURY THE CANDLE.
Do you believe in magick? Watch this and think about it.

Hah, this reminded me of my childhood when in our school yard we'd put a 'hex' on someone and were certain it worked!
thanks for the smile and memory this morning :)

That's a really great post Siv. Spooky stuff!

in England there's a place in Northumberland called Hexham. I wonder if there's some significance to that name.

Great post for the challenge.
Enjoy your Saturday

Great post! We talk about hexes in the sort of therapy I do (transactional analysis). People often hex themselves without realizing it. I refuse all chain letters that tell me I will get good luck if I pass it on and bad if I don't. I always make up an anti-hex and send it back to the sender. Eventually they get it!

I love what Jan said! I'm going to do that for all those stupid forwards too! Have a great un-hexed weekend :-)

Fun post. I believe in magic, but only the good kind. Positive thinking, that sort of thing. Bad stuff happens quite enough without me providing my support for it!

Poor Minnie! Great post! I always wondered about Hexham in England too. Bette Midler is awesome - I'd never seen that video before.

This kind of stuff fascinates me. I have a book on spells, curses and other magical recipes. It's great for story ideas. ;)

Also, I've answered posted the answer to your question!

I can hex someone by singing to them - my singing is so bad. But I love the anti-hex that's mentioned above. We need more of them.

Oh, that crazy Minnie! Fun post, and informative. There were a few times in elementary school when a girl in my class would have been hexed to a life of misery (by me).

Hmm...I love the movie Hocus Pocus, at the same time you post is somewhat on the serious side. I read a book once by a Christian writer called 'The Latent Power of the Soul', Watchman Nee. In it he said anyone who prayed for another person and they prayed in such a manner that they believed their opinion was the answer to that persons problem, situation, whatever, actually was a prayer to Satan and not God. I'm paraphrasing since it has been so many years. But I can tell you from personal experience that this is true. If someone believes you need such and such in your life, chances are your life will take a nose dive. I just pray and ask God to remove that prayer. It works better than a black candle.

WOW, this is a fascinating post, and a super creative one for the letter H!
You are more than welcome to have that button you made for my blog; I'm honored that you took the time to make one. Thank you!
I wish your book selection was more plentiful too. I definitely know how it is to want to read certain things when they're not available. If you can get The Hunger Games books, I really think they'll intrigue you.

Oh, this was fabulous! My magical initiation was through Harry Potter, and hexes are BAD, sure, but not bad like curses... Still... not charms either *teehee* I periodically joke about hexing people (or that I've been hexed) but I'm not one to actually mess with the fates. It isn't a believe or disbelief thing--more a respect of autonomy thing...

Bette Middler amazing - hadn't seen that before - thanks for the fun

These things are very common and popular here. There is a "baba jee" on almost every corner or you can open the classifieds of the newspaper and find dozens of ads by baba jee's claiming to be able to remove the "hex" from you. All for a nice fee of course.

Interesting post. Of course, we have various forms of hexes called by different names according to culture.

So your work has been hexed a time or two, I'll bet. You eventually recognize it when it's happened so many times you've not enough fingers and toes to tally the total.

I hope your weekend is free of hexes!
