Help The Air We Share WIN

Thanks to those of you that have helped me in making a decision about which of my two poems I should enter in the poetry competition. I could use your help further by clicking on the like button located on my Facebook page for my entry. You can find the banner for my Facebook on the sidebar of this blog or you can just follow this LINK. Thank you guys, I really do appreciate all your help! Once again, here is my entry:

The Air we Share

We do not choose them they are just there
Like quiet desperation or the air we share
A mother, a father a sister or brother
A broken old chair we would give to no other
You hate them and love them, and wipe away tears
You come and you go but they're always there
Life won’t always give you the people you want
Or endings to stories that you would have bought

It is not to late to join, so if you have some poetry you would like to "Air" hang it out there. Have a nice day everyone and thanks again for helping me out.

Need Some Help Please

Break in the Storm, just seemed fitting

There is this poetry contest that I would like to enter and I have narrowed my choice down to two poems. Since I can only enter one of them, I need some help deciding which one.  So if there are any poets out there, I would appreciate your feedback.

My Mothers Heart

A weary heart seeks comfort where it roams
Will make a nest and call it home
Too many times on the road alone
The weary heart can never say no
Years may pass and lovers fail at will
They never know the weary heart is beating still
The familiar rhythm beats and soars
Until the weary heart beats no more

The Air we Share

We do not choose them they are just there
Like quiet desperation or the air we share
A mother, a father a sister or brother
A broken old chair we would give to no other
You hate them and love them, and wipe away tears
You come and you go but they're always there
Life won’t always give you the people you want
Or endings to stories that you would have bought

This contest is open to anyone, so why not challenge the poet in you and submit your entry as well. Don' forget though to let me know which one of these two poems is your favorite. I really appreciate your help, so thank you for taking the time.  Have a great day everyone, and I'll see you soon somewhere between the lines.

Contolled Patriots of Standard Word Abuse and the A-Z Challenge

Not long after I first started blogging I joined the A-Z blogging challenge and had the time of my life. This month long blogfest was created by Arlee Bird at Tossing it Out and one of the co-hosts was none other than Alex J. Cavanaugh.  During this challenge I made many new friends, learned a lot and using the alphabet for inspiration I opened up my creative mind. I had no plans, nothing was prepared, and yes at times the letters were very frustrating. April 2012 is set for another A-Z challenge; check it out by clicking on the badge which you will find on my sidebar.  I cannot wait, and I urge everyone to hop in there and take the alphabet challenge. You will meet a lot of people, have a lot of fun and sometimes you might even want to tear your hair out. You might even be inspired as I was to create something that will last.

The Controlled Patriots of Standard Word Abuse is a club that was started on April 8th 2011 and was inspired by a post created during the A-Z challenge. Gibberish came out of the letter G and has been following my blog once a month ever since. These posts are hosted by my alter ego Minnie, who you can read about HERE. Minnie is also a creation that came to life during the A-Z challenge. This game of Gibberish has proven to be a source of delight for many. Anyone can join in on the fun; all you have to do is have an imagination and play. As promised, here is a list of the blogs belonging to members of the CPSWA in order of their appearance:

Final Tale of Heartballs and Hiccups

So this is how Minnie started the story about Heartballs and Hiccups and how the rest of the C.P.S.W.A. continued the story until Minnie finished  it off. Enjoy, and see you at the end of the month for another tale of complete Gibberish by Minnie and her fan club, Controlled Patriots of Standard Word Abuse.

Heartballs can only be drunk in the blue light otherwise hiccups will crawl onto the floor and trip anything or anyone in its way. Sucker Punch was stupid and hiding behind another glass he made his move and
the lights went out! A bolt of lightning ripped the sky and suddenly a booming voice told him not to move. Turning around, he noticed a toad in the middle of the floor
Linda H. said...
flopping like a fish out of water, its long purple tongue spinning around as the hiccups rolled off it. Sucker Punch bent over toad and
grabbed another heartball because when in doubt . . . it's time to grab a heartball!
Stephanie V said...
Just then the light changed to green. The hiccups spied Sucker Punch trying to creep out from behind the glass. Stuttering with merry giggles, they
flew straight up into the sky and bit the butt of a huge banana. The banana squealed
YOU BIT MY BANANUS OFF!
Banana peeled out to a fruit market hoping to save his skin. He screeched to a halt when he saw a giant baby baboon lumbering after him. He turned the corner and
shelly said...
a big boot squashed him but not without the owner slipping through the now dead banana.
The Suffolk Punch(a large horse), dragged his squished remains into the hallway, the fizz and bubbles of his drink flying every where.
Minnie said...
No one was safe anymore as the hiccups joined the dead bananus and tripped Sucker Punch and all his smart ass friends into the toads mouth. The baby baboon laughed and said, “Beware of Heartball cocktails if the light is not blue!”

If you have not taken your award yet, please do. I will soon be making a complete list of all the members in our elite little group.
Have a great day or night everyone, and speak as much gibberish as you can.

Japanese

It is once again time for the Insecure Writers Support Group.

Confused, that is what I am. There is a new world that I entered once I decided to take my writing more seriously. People in this world speak a foreign language and for someone like me who is just starting to look for the right roads to “Getting Published”, the language on the map is confusing. Most likely there are books out there, some kind of dictionary that will help me learn this language.

Imagine walking into a grocery store in Japan. There are aisles and aisles of products to choose from but you have no idea what they are or what’s inside. Now if you speak Japanese you have no problem and milk turns out to be just that, and not fish sauce. It is the same way in a grocery store for the written word. If you do not speak the language you have no idea what you are buying, or are about to digest.

Self-publishing, Indie books, query letters, agents, self-promoting, social networking, MC, YA, chick lit, word count, and the list goes on. What do half of these things mean and with all the choices out there, how do you choose? Standing here looking at this map, the direction is clear, but how to get there is confusing. Not only is it that, but the thought of drinking fish sauce is terrifying.

Heartballs and Hiccups

Minnie has finally returned from her extended stay in the states and she is ready for some Gibberish and has even dressed for the party, so let's have some fun and Gibber our way out of this year. Shake up a big dose of imagination and let’s see what you got.

The rules are easy. Minnie starts a story line written in Gibberish and those that want to play continue on the storyline from the last comment posted, in the same style. If you decide to play along there is a certificate at the end as well as membership to my elite group called the Controlled Patriots of Standard Word Abuse. (CPSWA) If you don't understand or have not played this before you can click on the following link to see more about how the game is played. GIBBERISH a game for silly fun.

Album of Life

It is the middle of the night and sitting under the Christmas tree in a room of my own design; I look outside my window and see other trees full of lights, blowing in the wind and the rain. All the neighbors have gone to sleep. Except for the sounds of beating rain and whispering wind all is silent. Yesterday still clings to me in these early morning hours and I find myself not wanting to let go. Time is bringing us closer to a new day and a new year, yet with all the dreams of the future, I know that I will still go to bed in the arms of yesterday.

A friend told me that beautiful pictures are developed from a “Negative" in a "Dark Room" so if we see "Darkness" in some of our days it means that life is developing a beautiful future for us. This past year has been a collage of beautiful days that started out in a dark room full of negatives. A daughter lost to me through a painful divorce returned to my life with a husband and two beautiful children. A son whom I had given up for adoption years ago found me and enriched my life more than I could have imagined. A year ago from where I am sitting there was only a cement floor and a rough building structure, now it is a beautiful kitchen. Then there was magic, the magic of a whole new world that opened to me through words as I entered this Space and found a community of bloggers who I have grown to know as friends. All of your support and encouragement has taken my words out of a “Dark Room,” and into the sun. You have my words, now here is a collage of some beautiful days I would like to share.

Let us welcome the New Year hoping for a better future by learning from our mistakes in the past and applying these lessons into the year 2012. Hold on as well to past triumph and love for they also will shape the year to come.

Happy New Year everyone! Take yesterday to bed with you but wake up with tomorrow. I hope you also get the chance to develop as many "negatives" as you can into beautiful pictures that you can put in your album of life.
