Thanks to those of you that have helped me in making a decision about which of my two poems I should enter in the poetry competition. I could use your help further by clicking on the like button located on my Facebook page for my entry. You can find the banner for my Facebook on the sidebar of this blog or you can just follow this LINK. Thank you guys, I really do appreciate all your help! Once again, here is my entry:

The Air we Share

We do not choose them they are just there
Like quiet desperation or the air we share
A mother, a father a sister or brother
A broken old chair we would give to no other
You hate them and love them, and wipe away tears
You come and you go but they're always there
Life won’t always give you the people you want
Or endings to stories that you would have bought

It is not to late to join, so if you have some poetry you would like to "Air" hang it out there. Have a nice day everyone and thanks again for helping me out.

Need Some Help Please

Break in the Storm, just seemed fitting

There is this poetry contest that I would like to enter and I have narrowed my choice down to two poems. Since I can only enter one of them, I need some help deciding which one.  So if there are any poets out there, I would appreciate your feedback.

My Mothers Heart

A weary heart seeks comfort where it roams
Will make a nest and call it home
Too many times on the road alone
The weary heart can never say no
Years may pass and lovers fail at will
They never know the weary heart is beating still
The familiar rhythm beats and soars
Until the weary heart beats no more

The Air we Share

We do not choose them they are just there
Like quiet desperation or the air we share
A mother, a father a sister or brother
A broken old chair we would give to no other
You hate them and love them, and wipe away tears
You come and you go but they're always there
Life won’t always give you the people you want
Or endings to stories that you would have bought

This contest is open to anyone, so why not challenge the poet in you and submit your entry as well. Don' forget though to let me know which one of these two poems is your favorite. I really appreciate your help, so thank you for taking the time.  Have a great day everyone, and I'll see you soon somewhere between the lines.

Summers End

October has always been one of my favorite months. I love the smell of it, the colors that span the horizon and the feel of the crisp air against my cheek. The last traces of summer scatter in the wind and as I walk on a colored path of leaves towards winter, summer will end, but I will carry this one with me always.

Summers End
The flavor of summer has changed.
The clouds rolled in to let me know
that soon the ground will be covered in snow.
The trees sigh, the flowers bow,
the harvest waits the farmers plow.
It is time for the night to sing its song
and bend the days to sing along.
While we watch this summers end
and taste the autumn on its breath,
we gather its bounty in our arms
and lay the ground so soon to rest.

----Siv Maria

This Saturday I will be trading in the beauty of a Norwegian October for one in Denver Colorado and Mpls., Minnesota. If any of my blogging friends are in this area I would love to meet you. Just send me an e-mail and let me know. Next time you hear from me I will be sitting someplace far away, looking out another window and enjoying the company of my son.

Wish me luck on my journey because I seriously do not enjoy long plane trips or airports.

Stranger to your sight

Stranger to your sight

Child afar, I speak to you
as darkness shrouds your sleep
and brings me here to burn this light
and share what shines so deep

A stranger to your sight am I
though not your native blood
of which I ask to show you more
beyond maternal love

A lullaby though she will sing
to comfort you to dreams
yet know her song can flame the heart
its passions and all it seems

Know her for her wild embrace
her fears, her joys, and more
that will be just outside your reach
a gentleness beyond whats yours

And know your blood is not unshared
and in that knowledge grow
and wonder at the loveliness
that she has thus bestowed

And as my light begins to fade
and yours does start to glow
I ask that I may catch you wake
and see what I now know

Winter in May

So my friends, as you know I have been very busy these past weeks with renovations, holidays and family. Sometimes it seems that I  can't catch my breath, and the hours in the day just do not stretch far enough. You probably know the feeling. Things can be overwhelming at times and it is important that we stop, step back and take a long breath. That is what I am doing. For the rest of this month while I prepare for my next series on Norwegian Folklore I will be posting some of my poetry and observations. Hope you enjoy.  Since it snowed today this one is fitting:

Winter in May

This snow that falls upon my face
cold and bitter,  there is no taste.
.
My hair is scattered, my skin is bare
I turn and turn but you're still there.

Why fall so white in Mays disguise
your breath so cold it burns my eyes.

The summer sun still plays the fool
This bitter wind is just her tool.

I wait, I watch, I turn and turn
This wind won't stop, the sun won't learn.

Tomorrows sun will be more sweet
while winds embrace the summers heat.

The Air We Share

(Kyoto Animation)

We do not choose them they are just there

Life won’t always give you the people you want

Living on Cruise Control

This picture is from my last voyage working on board M/S Peter Wessel. The smile was there but I felt very sad, I lost my home away from home that day. Working on board a cruise ship is like having a second family and a second home.

Adventure Friday

Today is going to be an exciting day as I travel off to Oslo with my daughter so she can renew her American passport. The American Embassy here is a very scarry place. There are lots of military men with heavy weapons that guard the place, and getting in there requires a lot of security stops.

Isn't Life Insane?

This blogging is new to me. I have been doing it for just a week now and I am still trying to find my rhythm and work out the details on my page. Now I have been told that a lot of my posts so far have been sarcastic and bitchy. Too bad, sometimes that is how I feel and to be honest this blog is a way for me to empty my head and share my opinions, good and bad.
