Romantic Warriors

If you have been following my blog than you know why I have not been posting much lately. Life has been keeping me busy with its twists and turns and constant surprises. This post is for all my friends and family. It is a reminder that every day is your birthday. So Happy Birthday!

Outside a small town a young boy plowed his way through the deep snow and hesitated at the edge of an old and raggedy bridge.
He asked himself, “Is it safe to cross?”  Deciding that it was he slowly made his way across the bridge safely to the other side.
It never occurred to the boy to walk across the frozen water below the bridge, but he was in a hurry as most young boys are and bridges were meant to be crossed.

Each year of our lives pass, and the bridges we cross are either many or few but we do cross. Once on the other side we should never look back to consider the alternatives. We are romantic warriors armed with the hope that on the other side of each bridge is a field of yellow sunshine.

Ground Control

My son had his 23rd birthday last week-end, I catered the affair, the next day  my father in law was rushed off to the hospital with chest pains,( no not because  of my cooking!) I started my book about trolls, I am painting the walls in our first story renovation, I have a new operating system for my computer which I do not understand yet, and the child I gave up for adoption many years ago has contacted me. Sorry for not blogging so much lately but I think you guys see that I have a lot on my plate right now. I know that I have a lot of catching up to do and I promise you there will be more mythology, more trolls and more crazy funny stuff from me, so please just be patient. I am working my way through a tale spin as best I can. Here is pretty much how I feel:

TROLLS part 3

So I told you that trolls are real. They do exist. When you stand in the middle of nature and let it overcome you that is when the trolls come out to play. Believe it or not this is true. You will find yourself stumble on a path and look up to see a twig with a grin. Trolls like  fairies will confuse you and get great pleasure watching you stumble around.

When I was a child I used to sit on the bank of a river and dip a stick into the water. I would watch the ripples make pictures and dream of places where magical creatures could exist. When you remember your childhood and these dreams, that is  when trolls make you stumble. That is when fairies dance on your shoulder and that is when you need to remember those childish dreams. That look into a pool of water or up at the clouds for those pictures, they are the trolls reminding us of what we have forgotten. The Trolls that make the child in us come out and play.

Now I could have given you alot of facts about trolls. There has been written many stories about trolls. I have read that trolls are big and stupid, that they have snot running out of their nose and that they would eat you for breakfast if they could. We have all seen those kind of trolls. We have worked with them, maybe even lived with them, but I choose to tell you about the trolls I have met on a different path. Not all trolls are bad. Look around you, look in the water, in the forest or up in the sky. I promise, if you look hard enough you will see them.
Taking a short break from bloging in order to recharge my bateries. Be back soon.

More Trolls part 2

The landscape in Sigdal was just like this and I was living right under that huge troll at the base of the water you see at his feet.
It didn't take me long to get a job at the local museum and folk music center where I was surrounded by Norwegian culture at its best.

Yep, thats me sitting on the steps of the old sheriffs headquarters.
So here I am, this crazy American girl guiding tourists around Norwegian treasures and culture. All of which I learned after a 6 week cource. Be patient, I know you are waiting to hear more about the trolls. You just need a little background first. Every once in awhile I have come across a job where I can not believe that I am getting paid for it. Walking around beautiful old buildings, picking flowers for displays and talking to people about beautiful works of art. Lets face it, this was an amazing job and it was located just around the corner from my house. A house that I might add was made of timber and in the yard were very old apple trees. It was not uncommon to find a moose in the yard early in the morning munching on fallen apples. How many people can sit on their front steps, have a conversation with a moose and listen to a waterfall while drinking their morning coffee?

My relationship with trolls started out slowly. I didn't see them at first. You know the feeling when you are sure there is someone there even though you can not see them? That is how it all started. I would walk around the museum grounds and down by the river to pick flowers or look for mushrooms. Sometimes I could hear the sound of students at the center while they practiced the norwegian fiddle and I would hum along, daydreaming and lost in my own thoughts. That is when the trolls will come out to play.

Yes I have more to tell you about my life with trolls  so come back again soon :) I can't overload you guys, I know how short a bloggers attention span is.

My Life With Trolls

Some of you may think that trolls do not really exist.

Actually when I think about it, none of you believe in them. Thats ok, I can relate. I never thought about trolls before except from what I read about them in fairy tales. Now I am going to tell you a story and I realize that most of you will probably think I am insane after you hear what I have to tell you.

PAYDAY AND KARMA!

So guess my friends what happened today?

I went to the mailbox and there were no bills inside! There was this big brown envelope where all the bills usually are. Well you can imagine I had to study it hard and wonder if it had been placed in the correct mailbox. I was puzzled because it was addressed to me but I didn't recognize the sender. Not at first anyways, then it hit me!  Back at the beginning of the A-Z challenge I had entered a competition to define education. I thought, "well ok, why not." Afterall you guys know by now that I am a writing addict and this tickled my keyboard fingers. I almost raced into the house to open my brown envelope winners surprise. Just think, I started blogging and now I was payed for it! Payday!

Maybe you guys think I am weird, but it was a big deal for me. You are witnessing someone who never wins anything and usually gives away the lottery ticket to the kid selling it. I love presents so usually I leave them in front of me for awhile before I open them. I like the anticipation, do any of you guys do that? I sat and stared at that envelope for probably 5 minutes, then I couldn't take it anymore. Usually I last longer than that.

Inside this brown paper was the most beautiful handstitched sunflower table runner and a sweet card from a even sweeter woman. I love it! Here is Lindas blog and the competition I entered. So now I am thinking about Karma and trying to figure out what I can give back to the blog world. What do you think? I am as stated before not so keen on prizes and awards. I do however love to give. Hmmmm, got to think on this one. Anyways, thank you Linda I love my Sunflowers!

I can see clearly now!

Ok this has to be said, at least I have to say it. What is it about these awards that come with terms? When I first started blogging I thought, OK great look at me, I won an award, waving and proud I screamed out," Look someone noticed me!" Then I spent hours trying to satisfy the demands this award put on me. Scratching my head, it did not take long to figure out that something was wrong. Why would someone give me an award that I already had and tell me that I had to do all these things just in order to pick it up? So what did I do? I started giving out awards with no demands on them. I said, I like you and I like your blog so do what you want with this award. Don't get me wrong I like awards. I got one today from  Elisabeth Mueller  This is my favorite award. It came with no strings attached and I earned it. So thank you Elisabeth!

I do not want to be one of those bloggers that take things for granted. If you follow my blog I will follow yours, but I will be honest and if I find what you are writing about is boring to me, or if you are not writing at all, I will stop following your blog. I expect the same from you! I am doing my best to pay attention and respect you. I am not perfect, I fall down, lose track and get distracted like everyone else out there. There is only one reason I am here blogging in the first place and that is because I am an addict. There I said it. I am addicted to writting and I need to find other addicts out there. I need a support group and I do not care about awards or giveaways or anything else. I just need to write and need to know that I am not alone. So there, you see? I can see clearly now, can you? I have three drugs of choice. Words music and art. Ok, so I like chocolate too.

So you, yeah you! What do you get high on?

Now I have made an award of my own. No one said I couldn't. This is for all my friends that dare to dream and never stop doing so. You can take this award if you think you are a dreamer. No strings attached!
